What are the duties of a Justice of the Peace in NH?

A Justice of the Peace is a public officer appointed and commissioned by the Governor and Counsil whose function is to administer oaths; to take acknowledgments of deeds and other instruments; to attest to or certify photocopies of certain documents; and to perform other duties specified by law. A Justice of the Peace serves as an impartial witness to facilitate the workings of commerce and law by lending credibility to certain sensitive signed documents. When a document is notarized, the public can be assured that its signer is not an impostor and any contracting parties can be assured that the document they have signed - and no other - will have full force and effect.

As a Justice of the Peace in NH, I am able to notarize documents anywhere in this state.
This includes copy certification if I make the copy or see it being made. I will not certify a copy of a copy, only the original document.
If it is inconvienent for you to come to me I will come to your location for a slight mileage fee. I will travel almost anywhere in Cheshire county and surrounding areas if time permits.

Current picture ID, ie. Drivers License--Passport*--Military ID, State non-operators ID
Personal knowledge by the notary or JP
Sworn statement by a person well known to the notary or JP that the person requesting the notarization is who they say they are.

Other identification may be acceptable but will have to be discussed.

*Non US Passports must have an up to date US visa stamp.
